Suffolk Public Schools, Earth and A.P. Environmental Science Teacher 2008 – 2009 Nansemond River High school Earth science students learn about a large range of topics such as meteorology, geology, astronomy, and oceanography. The AP environmental science students will go over major environmental issues and laws, we discuss how these issues effect all areas of the world and possible solutions to these issues. These classes lasts for a whole year, and also includes a lab aspect. Worked with students to improve their technical writing skills within the content area. Coached students in the process of analyzing scientific data for the purpose of improving writing technical skills for the purpose of producing scientific reports. Nauticus - National Maritime Center, Aquarist and Interpreter June 2008 – Aug 2008 Conducted roaming information stations, assisted with exhibits including Shark Lab, Horseshoe Crab Cove and Battleship Wisconsin deck programs, lead hands-on demonstrations, programs and activities for Nauticus and Battleship guests. Worked on the aquarium and its systems. Interacted with museum guests of all ages and education for the purpose of explaining the principles of my specialty; marine ecology and biology. Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, Aquarist Assistant May 2004 – Aug 2004 Performed routine animal care for a variety of marine mammals, amphibians and fish to include proper nutrition, preventative medicine and rescue animal care, tested and balanced tank chemistry to suit animal’s needs, educated visitors on the habitat and behavior patterns of various aquatic life. Presented weekly updates on status of different habitats to director or aquarist. Became familiar with AZA and its processes. NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration Jul 2003 – Aug 2003 Woodshole, MA Conducted sea scallop surveys along the east coast of the United States. Assisted senior scientists in the survey of closed fishing grounds aboard the R/V Albatross, recorded and analyzed data on types, sizes and quantities of fish. Required an understanding of seafood harvesting practices, the business environment and the maritime industry.
